9 Months

Waaah, I don't wanna grow up!

Jack does not seem to be too thrilled about getting older.  I've explained to him that with age come responsibility.

We went to the doctor yesterday for his nine month check-up and everything looks great!

His current stats are:

Weight:  19 pounds, 8 ounces (35th percentile)
Height:  27.25 inches (25th percentile)
Head:  44.6 centimeters (30th percentile)

The doctor said that Jack is very proportionate and growing well.  I had a list of questions that he patiently answered and made me feel like I've been doing a good job.  One of my burning questions was "Why the heck won't my sweet baby sleep?"  Jack has yet to sleep through the night and frankly, I'm exhausted!  The doctor said that Jack needed a little bit of "mommy's tough love".  I was to put him to bed and if he started crying, I was to just let him cry it out.

Last night, we did just that.  Got Jack jammied up, nursed him and then just put him in his crib.  He sat up in his crib and cried for a while, then Dave went in and laid him back down and attempted to calm him down in the crib then left him to continue to cry.  We just let him cry and he cried for about 25 minutes.  When we looked on the monitor, he was sleeping while he was sitting up.  He slept while sitting up for at least an hour.  When we went to bed, Dave went in and laid Jack down.  Around 4 o'clock in the morning, Jack woke up, sat up and started crying.  We just let him continue to cry.  Once again, he fell asleep sitting up.  I woke up around 7:30 and Jack was still sleeping.  He slept until 8 o'clock!  Let's hope this trend continues!!!

This month, Jack:

  • wears size 3 diapers
  • wears 6-9 month, 9 month and a couple 12 month clothes
  • eats breakfast, lunch, dinner and two snacks a day
  • nurses between four and six times a day
  • is very social and doesn't seem too intimidated by new people
  • has figured out crawling
  • gets into everything!
  • pulls himself up to his knees consistently
  • pulls himself up to his feet occasionally
  • has pulled himself up and "cruised" around
  • can sit up from the laying down position
  • holds his arms up, when he wants to be picked up
  • continues to say "mama" exclusively
  • loves to play with Scout
  • zooms around in his walker
  • drinks from a sippy cup...if we hold it for him
  • bangs objects together
  • still appreciates a good snuggle session
It's hard to believe that we have survived three-quarters of Jack's first year!  Time flies when you're having fun!!!
