18 Months

One and a half years!  Wow!

Jack had his 18 month check-up this morning and the doctor was very pleased with how much Jack has grown.  The doctor said that most babies at this age don't like the doctor and fuss a lot, but our sweet Jack showed that doctor a thing or two.  He smiled and giggled throughout the whole appointment.  He made good eye contact with the doctor and was more than willing to cooperate.  Jack didn't even cry when he got a vaccination!  Our boy is certainly growing up!

His current stats are:

Weight:  25 pounds, 9 ounces (50th percentile)
Height:  32 inches (50th percentile)
Head:  46.5 centimeters (25th percentile)

This month, Jack:

  • is wearing mostly 18 month clothes
  • wears size 4.5 or 5 shoes
  • wears size 4 diapers during the day and size 5 overnight diapers
  • went through a bit of a food rebellion, but is back on track eating everything
  • runs, falls, climbs, crawls through tunnels, never stops going
  • sleeps between 11 and 12.5 hours a night
  • takes one nap a day (anywhere from 1.5 hours to 3.5 hours)
  • is a complete fish in the pool
  • hates taking baths-much prefers showers (like his mommy)
  • loves to just walk up and give you a hug
  • will grab you by both sides of your face and pull you in for a kiss
  • has finally started pointing with just one finger (he was pointing like Vanna White)
  • can finally get on and use his ride on toys (his feet didn't touch the ground a few weeks ago)
  • likes to play independently
  • scribbles on paper whenever he sees a pen and paper
  • is still interested in pottying
  • tells everyone "good girl" when they do something good
  • yells "go" if things aren't moving quickly enough for him
  • enjoys helping around the house
  • will grab our finger and take us where he wants us to be
  • can point out several body parts and does so without being asked
  • continues to impress us with his receptive language skills.
Jack may be average in size (finally), but we think he's pretty extraordinary in the personality department!

psst:  Don't forget to vote on whether you think we are having a girl or a boy come November.  The poll is over there on the right side of the blog.  The poll goes down tonight!
