Chores

Now that it's getting warmer, the grass needs to be cut.  Jack and I often supervise Dave mowing the lawn.  Jack is a stickler for straight lines...

Do you see Scout and Molly also "supervising"?

20 Weeks

Jack has been out in the world half as long as he was in Chateau Mommy!

Carrots

We started carrots this week and Jack appears to like carrots better than he liked bananas.  He is doing really well with his new eating routine, but the solids are doing a number on his bowels...and it ain't "number 2" (he is going to appreciate me telling everyone about his pooper when he's grown up)!

Somebunny Loves You

Nanny Mary got Jack a bunny and a book for Easter.  If there is anything that we know for sure it is that Jack is truly loved!

Conversation

Elizabeth: Why are the flags flying at half-staff?
Dave:  I don't know.
Elizabeth:  Maybe it's for Jesus...
Dave:  You're probably right.

*As it turns out, the flags are flying at half-staff for the victims of the recent tornadoes*

We Represent the Lollipop Guild...

Crafty Sue is at it again!  She was inspired by the picture of grumpy Jack that I posted yesterday:

Say What?!

Dave is out of town and was supposed to come home tonight.  He has been asked to stay until Friday.  I told Jack the news and this was how he reacted:

He didn't have much to say, but I could tell he was not pleased!

Hurry home, Daddy....we miss you!

Feed Me!

Jack's doctor gave him the go-ahead to start eating solids.  We are starting off with rice cereal and will integrate bananas next week.  Hopefully, this will help him sleep better and grow a little bit taller.

I Don't Think We're In Kansas Anymore!

weathering the storm

The Mulleys made it through the terrible storms and tornadoes in Raleigh yesterday.  We are thankful that we are safe and all of our belongings are in tact.  We are thinking about all of our friends who were not as lucky.  You know it's a bad storm when our family and friends in England heard about it and called to check on us!

As the storm approached we all piled into our downstairs powder room to wait it out.  It is the only place in our house that is downstairs and without windows.  I took the necessary precautions and gathered some essentials to take with us (peanut butter crackers, camera, iPad, cell phone, a James Patterson book, a couple pillows and a giant cup of water).  Dave laughed at me but I would be the last one laughing if we ended up needing any of my supplies.  Once the storm passed (less than 10 minutes) we were able to come out and assess the damage.  We did not need to partake in any of my survival supplies that I packed, but I'm thankful we had them.

Talking

I mentioned earlier that Jack has started rolling from back to front and I attempted to catch that trick with the video camera...unfortunately, Jack had other plans.  He wanted to show off how much he can talk!

4 Months

I know I say it every month, but really....where has the time gone?!?!

We went to the doctor on Tuesday for his 4 month check-up.  His current stats are:

Weight: 17 pounds (88th percentile)
Height: 24 inches (18th percentile)
Head:  42.5 centimeters (55th percentile)

Jack continues to be short and round.  The doctor is not concerned.  In fact, he thinks Jack is looking great.  He did strongly suggest we start Jack on solids now since Jack has doubled his birth weight, holds his head up really well and his struggling to feel full.  He is nursing all the time and he's just having a hard time getting enough calories from Mommy's love alone.

This month, Jack:
  • Holding his head up
  • Blowing spit bubbles
  • Bashing his toys together
  • Grabbing anything is his reach and putting it directly in his mouth
  • Standing up with all of his weight on his legs (while we hold him)
  • Is more and more vocal- he'll have a 15 minute conversation with himself
  • Smiles all the time (not just at Mommy and Daddy but anyone that will look at him)
  • Can entertain himself upwards of 45 minutes some days
  • Enjoys watching Scout and Molly play
  • Rolls from back to front (and front to back)
  • Sucks his thumb(s)-often both at the same time
Why suck one thumb when you've got two!?!
Jack continues to be a great baby and we are treasuring everyday with him.  It's so fun to watch his personality emerge a little bit more each day.

An Update in Pictures

Yeah, yeah yeah.  I know.  Blogging has fallen by the wayside lately.  We have been busy with some home improvements, visitors, parties and just living life!

Here are some pictures to catch you up on our goings on:
