Shawn Says...Part 12

"Framing inspections has passed! Insulation was on schedule for Thursday but the weather has caused it to move to today. Inspection is schedule for Monday. My plan is to be hanging sheetrock at some point next week. This weather is really causing issues. Siding has been delivered and will start Monday if the weather gets better."

Wow! What an exciting update and it was even more exciting when we rolled up to the house to see the updates in person! The exterior walls have insulation installed and the sheetrock is stacked throughout the house ready for installation. The siding crew was there when we pulled up. They were having lunch in the garage and I asked if it would be okay for us to go in and look around. We stayed out of their way as we marveled at all of the updates. It's all coming together and we feel so lucky that we get to watch it happen!

Cruising up to the house and people are working on it!

She's getting dressed!

Back side is still naked.

Both sides have the siding and they were working
on the front when we got there.

The concrete on the front porch has been poured

There was drywall stacked throughout the entire house

Shawn Says...Part 11

"All trades have completed rough ins and passed inspections! Framing inspection will take place on Tuesday. Inspections department isn’t working Monday. Insulation and insulation inspection will take place once we get past framing inspection. We have been experiencing insulation delays due to Covid. I am hoping to beat the delay by schedule three days ahead of when we need it installed. Will see if I can time it just right."

Yay! It was nice to get some good news in our weekly update! We had already seen the plumbing that went in but this week we saw a lot of the electrical work has begun as well!

Electrical wires for our outdoor garage lights and an outlet (I guess)

Some insulation around the a/c ducting

Our electric meter box has been installed but the power is
still in its temporary home in the front yard

Main sewer line and some sort of pressure gage

Power outlet for the screened porch

Water and power for the kitchen island

Insulated plumbing

I don't know what the hell this is but it looked important

Electrical switch boxes

More electrical switch boxes

Fuse box

More plumbing that has been insulated

Windows have been insulated

Jack also made a video this week of the house progress. He got a "green screen" for Valentine's Day and he is putting it to good use!

Shawn Says...Part 10

"Plumbers have completed the rough in. Electricians will be completed with rough in on Monday. Inspections will take place next week. Temperatures should allow me to get the plumbing inspection next week. We will have to see, weather has not been helping lately. If we having freezing temps we have to wait it out. Inspections has to be done with water in the lines. I am hopeful that we can get it done and move on to the framing inspection next week. Think warm thoughts."

I think our warm thoughts have been working! It got up to 65˚F today! Hopefully, the inspection can happen before the cold front comes through at the end of the week!

We were excited to see lots of changes this week after several weeks of lackluster changes. Not only is the plumbing complete but there was a lot of mechanical/electrical in place as well!

Things to note in this picture: electrical wires for our
outdoor garage lights, and siding go up on the neighbors house!

A great view into the crawlspace (never thought I'd utter those words)

Safety first!

Lots of wiring to help light the living room ceiling

Shawn Says...Part 9

"Plumbers started the rough in yesterday and did not finish. They cannot get me back on schedule until 2/4. I am very frustrated with my plumbers currently. This is not how we do things. I am working to get them in prior to that date. I am working with my area manager and the owner of the plumbing company to get this job completed. I am sorry and I now this isn’t what you wanted to hear this afternoon. Hopefully I will have better news for you next week."

Needless to say, Dave and I were very disappointed with this update. Dave and Shawn communicated (much more eloquently that I ever could) and Shawn is confident that this time will be made and and ultimately won't change our anticipated completion date.

We still went over to check things out today and we were happy to see some changes. We also go through our friends' new build when we go over on Sundays so they can see their updates via FaceTime. It's just one of the many services I provide :)

The weather was super cold and rainy in NC today and we were very pleased to see how well our property was draining. No backyard soup or random rivers running through our yard!

First thing we saw, was two bath tubs in our garage

Ge-Ge's shower

Some plumbing for the kitchen island

Lots of pipes in the downstairs ceiling

Laundry room

A bunch of random pipe connectors in Sam's closet

Master shower randomly placed between a couple rooms

The master shower bench is in place

Our master bath is currently in the master bedroom

Dave and I tried out the tub

Shawn Says...Part 8

"Plumbers are confirmed for 1/25-26. Electrical rough in will follow on 1/27-28. Inspections for both will happen once each trade has completed. Framing inspection will take place after rough ins pass inspection."

So not much happened this past week and we saw no changes when we visited he house today. Jack suggested we have a picnic in the house so Dave and I joined him for a rather chilly picnic in our new house. Sam and Kate decided to stay warm at home with Ge-Ge.

Enjoying a chilly picnic in our dining room.

Dave and I purchased some new furniture for the house this week. We picked out stuff for the living room and the dining room. Good thing we found something we like as the turn around time is about 17 weeks!

We are getting a three seat sofa, a two seat love seat, and a recliner like this.

This table has a leaf to make it larger and can easily seat 6 people.

These are a sample of the stains we will use for our table, chairs and sideboard.

Our sideboard will be the grey stain.

Below is our floor plan to give a better idea of the layout of the house. Ours is just reversed.

We are really looking forward to seeing the progress next weekend when we head over!
