Chickens

Our friend Rick's parents were in town and besides seeing all Raleigh had to offer, they wanted to see a toddler.  We were unable to make it to the dinner that they planned, so Jack and I headed over to see everyone on yesterday afternoon.  Rick and Rob have flock of chickens so I was pretty excited that Jack was going to get to see them.  When we got there, Rick took Jack outside to meet the chickens and Jack was mildly interested.  Then they came back inside to visit and Jack showed off all of his tricks.  After a while, a couple of the chickens got up on the deck so I took Jack over to the sliding glass door to show him.  He immediately sat down and was mesmerized by the chickens for a good 15 minutes.  Bookie and Max (the dogs) were very interested in sharing Jack's snacks while he watched the chickens, but Rick wouldn't let them.  When Jack grew tired of the chicken show, he got up and placed his snack cup in Bookie's kennel.  He's a good sharing friend!

I Pity the Fool!

Jack has started wearing his links as a necklace.  This morning he decided he needed to wear all of them at once.  He then proceeded to walk around like he was Mr Big Stuff.  He got one on and then he wanted to keep putting the "necklaces" on until there was no more accessorizing he could possibly do.

Jack now likes to charge the camera when he sees me taking a picture

So proud of himself

Time Flies

When I got Jack dressed this morning, I had no idea that he had transformed from a sweet little baby into a big boy who looks like he is ready to head off to college.  Where did that sweet little baby go?

"Hey ladies.  How you doin?"

Baby Bennett

My good friends Elizabeth and Chris (and Jack's auntie and uncle Nida) recently had a baby boy.  Jack and I made plans to take Elizabeth lunch so that we could see that sweet baby again.  While we ate lunch, Bennett slept happily next to the table and Jack would turn around to check on him often.  After lunch, Bennett was a little hungry himself so he got a little fussy.  Jack wasn't really sure what was going on, but didn't seem to be too distraught over the crying.  I honestly wasn't sure how Jack would do with the little baby, but I think he did great.  He was gentle and observant, but also happy to play on his own (and show auntie Nida what would need to be baby-proofed in the future).

Favorite Red Head

We met up with my friend Kristin a couple weeks ago for lunch.  Kristin and I went to high school and college together and she is truly one of few people that gets me and is just as silly and inappropriate as me.  She was with me the night Jack was born and she entertained my mom while I was delivering Jack (they were kicked out of the room).

Jack hadn't seen Kristin since that first night and it was high time we got together so he could re-meet her.

It was love at first sight.  I know Jack is a friendly kid, but he was doing things I have never seen him do. He would lay his head on her hands if she had them on the table.  He would share is food with her (Jack's not a big sharer when it come to food).  He was just fine when I walked away and left them together a few seconds after she arrived.

I'm so glad they love each other!

Jack is slightly concerned that Kristin is giving him bunny ears

I'm Doing Okay

Sometimes you just need to hear that you are appreciated...

Sunday Fun-Day in the Pool

Back in December when we went swimming with Marisa and Miles, Jack wasn't such a big fan of the pool.  He was really clingy to me and really only wanted to snuggle in close.  I was concerned that he was afraid of the pool after not having been in for at least 4 months so I decided that Jack would be entered into Mommy's Pool Boot Camp to get him more comfortable in the water.

Since the beginning of the year, Jack has gone swimming at least once a week and now he LOVES it!  He puts his face in on his own, goes off the side, walks down the steps into the pool and happily goes under water.

And, because all of the grandparents live far away, we made a couple videos of Jack in action at the pool.

I'm so glad that we have a boy that loves the pool.  Now, we just have to keep a close eye on him so that he doesn't just go jump in any pool he sees.
